The Duchess Of Crouch End

Cicely, the Duchess of Crouch End, was born in Dorset and was presented to the monarch at her coming-of-age.

A year later she married Gerald, the 6th Duke, and they lived for some years at the ancestral home, Crouch Hall in Crouch End, north London.

Sadly Gerald passed away in Tangier in a freak accident involving root vegetables and Cicely was forced to sell their home to pay some of Gerald’s outstanding debts. Crouch Hall was later demolished and the site is now a branch of Waitrose.

Cicely retired to Dorset but recently returned to her first love of performing. She has just completed a highly successful tour and has released a Christmas record, Chuck It Out in the New Year which not only offers festive cheer but also an explanation of monetary policy.
